January/February Athlete of the Month

Name: Erin Kasprzycki

Age: 37

Where did you grow up? Green Bay, WI

When did you become a member at RedDoor CrossFit? Before it was RedDoor! 😉

What do you do when you are not at RedDoor CrossFit? (occupation, hobbies, etc.) I work at Schneider as a Customer Service Manager. I have an awesome husband, Joe, and I am a mom of 4 wonderful kids. When I am not at work or the gym, we play taxi driver for our kids.

How did you find out about CrossFit? My brother is the one who introduced Joe and I to CrossFit. One of my first workouts was the 12 days of Christmas WOD. I hated it and said I was never coming back. About a month later, I started OnRamp and have been going for 7 years now!

When did you realize CrossFit is right for you? I was one of those “cherry pickers” in the beginning. If there was a movement that I didn’t like or didn’t feel comfortable doing, I wouldn’t go. I kept going because of the friends that I made at the gym and Joe would call it “my social hour”. It had become a great outlet for my stress. The workouts are different every day and the people around me push me to be better. The community of people that surrounds you at the gym is very motivating. Everyone is cheering for everyone, no matter how good you are.

What is your favorite WOD/movement? I like Chippers (the workouts with a little bit of everything) and my favorite movement is snatching.

What is your least favorite WOD/movement? My least favorite movement is the deadlift. UGH

What would your perfect WOD look like? All Snatching! 

What is one thing you have done at RedDoor CrossFit that you never thought you would do? I thought I would never be able to do a Muscle Up on the rings.

What motivates you during a CrossFit WOD? My kids do. They come with us to the gym every night and sometimes workout with us. I know that they are watching even when they are playing! When I am working on something that I have been trying to do for a while, or even just finishing a WOD and I hear them say “Come on Mom”, or “You can do it Mom”, that really pushes me to try harder. It’s always fun to see Spencer lay on the floor like the rest of us at the end of a workout too.

What is something about yourself that we might not know? Hmmm, not sure, maybe that I was born in Texas.

What advice would you give to someone just getting started with CrossFit? Diet plays a huge role in your success. I have been through a lot of ups and downs in CrossFit having to start over with my PR’s a couple times. I have seen the best results with a clean diet.

Fill in the Blank (one word) I like… my family.
I eat… eggs every night for dinner.
I do… the best that I can.
I am… determined.
